Recent U.S. College Grads Invited to Participate
in Kauffman Foundation Global Scholars Program

Applications for 2013 program now online, due Sept. 24, 2012

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aug. 13, 2012) – Recent U.S. college graduates with innovative business ideas have an outstanding opportunity to pursue their path to entrepreneurship thanks to the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. The Foundation will include up to 10 U.S. participants in its 2013 class of Kauffman Global Scholars.

The 6-year-old Global Scholars Program opened spots for U.S. Scholars for the first time in 2012, and their inclusion was deemed a success by both students and program administrators. Since 2007, Kauffman has hosted students sponsored by governments and organizations from six countries representing 12 nationalities.

The Global Scholars Program provides young entrepreneurs a six-month educational immersion opportunity as they learn, network and explore their entrepreneurial aspirations.

"The Foundation recognizes the importance of the Global Scholars Program to aid in economic growth throughout the world," program director Nancie Thomas said. "By bringing together U.S. and international Scholars for education, internship and networking opportunities, we facilitate the role entrepreneurs play in today’s global economy."

U.S. applicants to the Kauffman Global Scholars Program must have completed, at minimum, an undergraduate college degree program within the past 24 months and have business ideas in the fields of science, technology and/or engineering. Applications, available at  www.kauffman.org/USglobalscholars, must be submitted by Sept. 24.

The 2013 class of U.S. Scholars will be selected in November. All selected U.S. and international students will begin the program in January and, by its completion next June, they will have honed their entrepreneurial skills, ideas, competencies and capabilities to start a business.
