Documenting the Impact of Broadband on Small Businesses
The Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy islooking for a contractor to conduct a study
to evaluate the impact of broadband speed and priceon small businesses. Advocacy offers toprovide assistance in obtaining access to non-proprietary FederalCommunications Commission (FCC) and other agency data, if necessary.
The study must include the following:
a) a survey ofbroadband speeds available to small businesses;
b) a survey of thecost of broadband speeds available to small businesses;
c) a survey of thetype of broadband technology used by small businesses; and
d) any policyrecommendations that may improve small businesses' access to comparable broadband services at comparable rates in allregions of the nation.
The deadline for submitting proposals is Monday, August 31,2009 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time. Theproposal solicitation and synopsis are listed in FedBizOpps.
Commenting on this request for proposals, Senate Committeeon Small Business and Entrepreneurship Chair Mary Landrieu, D-La., said thatthe study “will provide the Federal and State governments, Congress, industry leadersand small business owners an important benchmark on broadband technology andits influence on small business growth.”
