'Learn to Earn Act' Introduced

on November 21, 2011 Source: Policy Dialogue on Entrepreneurship

While hundreds of US colleges, universities and high schools were celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week/USA, a new bill was introduced to Congress that encourages participation in entrepreneurship education programs. Sponsored by Congressman Dave Loebsack of Iowa, the 'Learn to Earn Act of 2011' seeks to create incentives for states and local school districts to implement high-quality entrepreneurship programs in communities all across the country.

According to Amy Rosen, president and CEO of the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, " This bill will help spark even greater interest around the U.S. in arming our young people with the basic skills, the motivation and the aspiration to seize hold of their futures, stay in school and plan for successful futures. When young people learn to see opportunity in the face of obstacles and are equipped with the mindset of an entrepreneur, they are better prepared for the workforce, for higher education and to be the job creators of the future."
