Startup Scene: Mexico City

When one thinks of Mexico City, startup companies would not normally be at the top of anyone's mind. But, I had the chance to spend a few hours with some of the local entrepreneurial organizers there last week and was very impressed with what I saw.

Founders School: 'Just in Time' Lessons for Entrepreneurs

You don't need to spend countless hours in a classroom, or have an MBA to become a successful entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs often don't have the time or patience to sit through a semester long class or six-week course in order to retrieve the answer to a question they have now--today. They need help quickly and efficiently. And this is where our idea for Founders School started.

Straight from the Source

To me, there's no better source for entrepreneurial advice than straight from the entrepreneur. Hi, I'm Nathan Kurtz, and I'm really excited to join the Entrepreneurship team this month at the Kauffman Foundation. There are a few questions I love asking new people I meet. Mapping Communities One Startup At A Time

At the Kauffman Foundation, we recently announced a grant to a group that is trying to map and track where startups are around the world. The project--Startup Genome--is working "to build the most complete and accurate database of the world's startup communities, present it in useful, beautiful ways and provide tools and reports that community builders can use to gain insight into what's happening in their community. And make better decisions about how to grow it."

Ewing Kauffman: A Founder's Legacy

In the month of September, we remember the birthday of our founder Ewing Marion Kauffman. From humble beginnings, Mr. Kauffman knew the fruits of hard work could change a person's journey through life.
