Pepsi Tech?

Today I posted an update to the home page of entrepreneurship.org about an idea exchange on media, communications and technology. Specifically, the Pepsi Company, yes the soda making giant, is “championing outside innovation and welcoming it into the organization to push our marketing and communications expertise to new levels …” according to Seth Kaufman (no relation to Kauffman), Director of Media Strategy & Investment.

I am THRILLED to see this program and others like it because, in a small way, they help disrupt the closed, broken, incestuous circles of early (seed) and later stage equity investing that exists in many (not all) parts of the U.S.; and largely non-existent in the rest of the world.

As more big companies look to the entrepreneurial community for advances in technology, media, communications and many other fields, heretofore parts of the country that are better known as fly over territories may actually see the occasional outlier turn into something big. And that could certainly be categorized as a win/win.

Know of other such programs? Share them here with the rest of the entrepreneur community; that’s what the comment button is for!
