Boostrap All the Things with LESS

12/11/2012 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Main Talk (Approximately 1 hour): Bootstrap All the Things (with LESS)

CSS Scaffolding systems have some a long way since Blueprint and Bootstrap extends beyond the basic grid system to provide a beautiful and powerful design framework, and its power increases tenfold when combined with LESS, the dynamic stylesheet language. Spend a session learning about simple, reusable, variable-based CSS with LESS, and the beautiful, responsive designs that you can build off of it when combined with the Bootstrap framework. When you walk away from this session, you too will want to Bootstrap All the Things (with LESS).

Speaker Bio - Jay Harris

Jay is a code wrangler, software consultant, and president of Arana Software. He has been developing on the web for over 15 years, since the Blink tag lured him away from Visual Basic 3 in 1995. He has a passion for practices that provide beautiful and intuitive user experiences, simple and elegant architecture, and is an expert in continuous integration and in performance analysis and optimization. Jay is also an active contributor and speaker in the developer community, a Microsoft MVP in C#, ASPInsider, and an organizer of many conferences and user groups in the Ann Arbor area.

Originally from Rochester, New York, he and his wife, Amy, have lived in Michigan since 2003. They like Michigan, but still consider themselves tourists, and probably always will.

A light dinner will be served at 5:30, followed by the presentation at 6pm. If you're interested in attending, please RSVP by Saturday, December 8 to MDSM Meetup so we can get an accurate number for food and seating. If you require a parking tag for the ramps behind the College of Engineering building, please let us know that in your RSVP as well.

Meeting Room

The meeting room will be in room D-132, in the College of Engineering Building on WMU's Parkview Campus (driving directions). The building is organized into 7 sections, lettered A-G, where Section A is closest to US-131 and Section D is the central hub. The meeting room is on the the first floor. You can park in either ramp, but we recommend getting as close to the center of the building as you can.

Single-event parking tags are required for the ramps behind the building, and will be available for anyone who needs one (please park and see Mark Gilbert or Mike Eaton).
