The SES-Day is offered to all entrepreneurs to enhance their effectiveness and to strengthen applications they may be submitting to business start-up competitions they may enter.
The Savvy Entrepreneur Series will be offered through a blended learning format. Prior to the event, registrants will have access to six live presentation videos on topics critical to the success of a start-up and delivered by experienced entrepreneurs. Presenter Biographical Sketches
Rajiv Tandon - Adayana, Inc.
Dr. Rajiv Tandon is Founder, CEO and Chairman of Adayana, Inc. a Minneapolis based performance improvement and workforce development company providing services and solutions that empower individuals to learn. A serial entrepreneur, Dr. Tandon holds a Mechanical Engineering degree, with honors, from the Institute of all from the University of Minnesota. Under a Bush Leadership Fellowship, his doctoral dissertation in entrepreneurship examined critical success factors in emerging companies and built a model for evaluating the success potential of new opportunities.
Mark Gleeman - Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A.
Mark Gleeman is a shareholder at Winthrop & Weinstine and practices in corporate and business law, banking, and labor and employment law. He has substantial experience counseling clients on day-to-day business matters from structuring, negotiation, drafting and review of complex contracts. Mark also represents employers with labor and employment issues.
Linda Hall - Adjunct Professor and Guest Lecturer
Linda Hall has 18 years experience on 5 public and 7 privately held company boards in the US and Europe. She has chaired Compensation, Compliance, Governance & Nominating Committees; and served on Audit Committees. She has 33 years executive experience in manufacturing (HVAC) and service sectors (healthcare; employee benefits; utilities; education) and has launched 9 start-ups, including two inside Fortune 500 companies. Her expertise includes: succession planning, compensation and executive coaching; raising capital, breakthrough innovation, successful exits; distribution strategy, strategic planning, alliances, integration of acquisitions, navigating growth stages and developing high performance teams.
Josh Dahmes - President, Online Marketing
Josh's extensive online marketing experience started in 1997 and includes search marketing optimization, social media, email marketing, online media buying, affiliate marketing and web analytics, with a focus on metrics and ROI. He was already doing search marketing when Google launched and was involved with social media when Facebook was still only for college students. Josh joined Risdall in 2005 as the Vice President of Online Marketing and was promoted to President of the Online Marketing Group in 2009. He has spoken at seminars and conferences for over 10 years and continues to work with companies on how to use the Internet to drive bottom line results. Josh holds a B.S. in marketing from the University of Minnesota.
Brad Walz - Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A.
Brad Walz is a shareholder in Winthrop & Weinstine’s Intellectual Property group. He primarily represents technology companies on strategic legal and business matters relating to cloud computing, software development and distribution, open source software, and data security and privacy. He is experienced in all aspects of trademark and copyright law.
Brett Klein - Winthrop & Weinstine, P.A.
Brett Klein is a patent prosecutor who works to secure patent protection for inventions. His practice involves preparing and prosecuting applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Brett is also experienced in contractual negotiations of IP rights for joint ventures, and patent due diligence investigations for corporate transactions.
Michael Olsen - Winthrop & Weinstine
Michael Olsen is chair of the Technology & Intellectual Property Transactions group at Winthrop & Weinstine. He assists local and international clients with a variety of e-commerce, software, and technology licensing issues including open source software and cloud computing. He also represents clients in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings.

Patrick Kenney - HR Visions, Inc.
Pat, both intrapreneur and entrepreneur, is a principled natural integrator and influencer who within timeframes and budgets drives change. He is an HR pioneer whose functional corporate career is as a Senior Human Resources Executive with over 30 years of achievement leading organization-wide process, systems, and culture transformations for global companies such as: Seagate Technology, AnswerThink Consulting, Digital Equipment Corp., and Personnel Decisions International. His entrepreneur HR insight comes through experience with more than four start-ups including: Green Harvest Technologies LLC, Residential Construction Inc, HR Visions Inc, , and Parable Recon Inc.
Rick Brimacomb - Brimacomb + Associates
Rick has been a venture capitalist, advising and investing in emerging companies, for more than twenty years. He co-founded the Sherpa Trek venture capital fund, an early-stage venture capital firm investing in technology and life science companies. His earlier experience includes venture capital, investment banking and investment research. Rick is founder of Club Entrepreneur, co-founder of MOJO Minnesota and a past President of the Minnesota Venture Capital Association. He has been recognized by the Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal for the “40 under 40” award. Rick received his BS and MBA from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management.
