The RookieOven Meetup

Being a founder of a startup isn’t easy. As a founder you’ll likely experience highs and lows; a real rollercoaster of emotions. That is why support and regular contact with fellow founders is invaluable.

The meetup is a platform for the Scottish startup community to interact on a regular basis. The RookieOven meetup in a monthly opportunity to meet fellow founders in a relaxed environment. Share experience, soak up advice, connect and collaborate.

At the meetup there are no talks, presentations or set agendas just great conversations between Scottish startup founders, employees and enthusiasts.

RookieOven exists to improve the Scottish tech community. The blog is used to share opinions and advice and also shine a spotlight on talented individuals and quality startups from across Scotland. The meetup is an attempt to provide support and foster better connections within the Scottish startup community.


The venue for the meetup is Glasgow bar, Vespbar. Vespbar is a short walk from Glasgow Central Station or Queen Street Station and has quickly become a popular location for the Glasgow tech community; Refresh Glasgow, Glasgow UX Book Club and more call Vespbar home. It has a great selection of beers and sells pizza by the metre.

Who is it for?

All are welcome, just turn up on the night of the meetup from half 6 onwards, grab a beer and chat with your peers. You could be service or product based, early or late stage, techie or non-techie just come along and meet some like minded people. There are just a couple of simple rules:

No sales: this isn’t an opportunity to sell to startups

No stealth mode: Talk! Share your idea’s and experiences with fellow Scottish startups
