Build your first web app in a day

7/18/2013 - 2:00 AM

Already know how to create static sites, but need to breathe life into them? If you have an idea for a web application, there's no excuse not to get started today.

In this day-long workshop, we'll go through the necessary elements of building a web app—which software to use, how to architect your app's life cycle, and how to run your app on different platforms. After covering the basics, we'll then get to work, writing code for our own apps using HTML, CSS, and Ruby.

A functioning web app that you wrote from scratch

Thorough knowledge of how web apps work

Knowledge of and experience with various coding languages to keep playing around on your own

Students should have a basic grasp of HTML and CSS to get the most out of this class. Zero prior experience with app development is assumed.

Bring your laptop as you'll be coding!
