Prepare for a WageHour Investigation Webinar by TrainHR
Overview : This session will provide participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to manage and defend an investigation by the Wage-Hour Division of the US Department of Labor of alleged violations of the FLSA. It will also provide guidance to participants on how to respond and work with their attorneys if a wage-hour lawsuit is filed.
Why should you attend: Wage-Hour violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) cost employers millions of dollars each year. Many of the violations are unintentional, yet still costly. And unlike charges of discrimination, which require a filing of charge with the EEOC, an employee is not required to file a complaint with the Department of Labor (DOL) and can take the complaint directly to court.
Awards can include not only back pay for large groups of employees, but also liquidated damages, fines, and plaintiff’s attorney fees. Employers can take steps to prevent complaints, but the management of the investigation itself is critical to achieving the best possible outcome.
Areas Covered in the Session:
Risks of investigation and initial notices
Initial conference with investigators
Records maintenance, review and presentation
Pre-investigation of the facts and circumstances of the complaint
Dealing with the investigators
Relationship with the complainant
Identifying other possible liability
Calculation of back pay
Review of most frequent violations
