Now in its sixth year, Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) will be celebrated Nov. 18-24 in 139 countries and thousands of cities around the world. One of the largest lineups of GEW events is in Kansas City, the hometown of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, which launched GEW in 2008. Kauffman Foundation to Accept Nominations for Junior Faculty Fellowship Grants

The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation announced today that the nomination period is now open for the Kauffman Junior Faculty Fellowship in Entrepreneurship Research (KJFF). The Kauffman Foundation will award up to seven Junior Faculty Fellowship grants to junior faculty members in the United States whose research has the potential to make significant contributions to the body of literature in entrepreneurship. Each Fellow’s university will receive a grant of $35,000 over two years to support the research activities of the Fellow.

U.S. Final Round of ‘Get in the Ring’ Pitch Competition Will be Streamed Live

Americans nationwide can have a ringside view from their living rooms to watch eight U.S. entrepreneurs go head-to-head in the final round of “Get in the Ring: The American Startup Clash.” The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, host of the first-ever U.S. competition, will live stream the competition for the title of America’s most promising entrepreneur at 8 p.m. EST on Nov. 18 at www.kauffman.org/GITR.

Entrepreneurs' Business Confidence Rises Despite Economic Uncertainties

Ceaseless uncertainty in Washington and mixed signals from economic indicators have not dampened the outlook of new business owners, who express rising confidence in their prospects in the third-quarter 2013 Kauffman/LegalZoom Startup Confidence Index. Released today by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and LegalZoom, the Index reports that entrepreneurs’ confidence climbed to 86 percent, setting a new high for the study, which was initiated in first quarter 2012.

At precisely 9 a.m. today, hot coffee will be brewing up conversation and collaboration among entrepreneurs in 20 cities across the nation. It marks an important milestone for 1 Million Cups, the weekly program that has been educating and engaging entrepreneurs and accelerating startups for the past 18 months. Kauffman Labs for Enterprise Creation at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation last fall announced its intention to scale its entrepreneurship education program to 20 cities by the end of 2013. The goal has been accomplished two months ahead of schedule.

Tapping the potential of online education to teach entrepreneurs best practices in areas not typically covered in other training programs, the Kauffman Foundation today unveiled the Kauffman Founders School. The online video education program—curated from years of the Foundation’s experience in developing and supporting entrepreneurship programs—is designed to enable entrepreneurs to learn anywhere, anytime, and to immediately apply the lessons to their businesses.
