Event Preview: MedCity CONVERGE
MedCity CONVERGE, a national, executive-level summit in Philadelphia next week, will bring together decision-makers and stakeholders to provide a glimpse at the future of medical innovation and the opportunities and challenges facing the industry. Along with dozens of health care startups (many of whom will participate in a startup showcase), CONVERGE attendees include investors and leaders from health systems, payers, medical device, pharma, and digital health.
CONVERGE is the ideal conference for anyone serious about innovating in health care, said Chris Seper, CEO and founder of MedCity Media. While most health care conferences focus on one silo within the industry, such as pharma or med tech, CONVERGE brings all the stakeholders into one room, he said. “If you want to understand where things are going, you need to bring the entire ecosystem of health care together,” Seper said. “That’s where CONVERGE is better than almost any other conference.”
The full conference agenda is available here. Highlights for life science and digital health entrepreneurs include:
- Access – The Great Opportunity and Challenge for the Digital Health Entrepreneur: eMed’s conversation with the Kauffman Foundation’s Dominique Pahud will feature models where entrepreneurs, care teams, patients, and institutions are innovating as a team, along with ideas for making this innovation happen more systematically.
- Fundraising Panel (New and Future Opportunities): With speakers including Fahd M.T. Riaz of Morgan Lewis, Kelly Campbell Slone of the National Venture Capital Association, and Joseph Hammer of GE Capital Healthcare Financial Services, this panel will delve into the state of fundraising, including where entrepreneurs can find opportunities to land capital at any stage.
- In the New Healthcare, Just Who is the Customer – and How Do You Reach Them?: In an age of digital health, hospital acquisitions, and patient empowerment, who is today’s customer? Panelists including Steven Krein of StartUp Health, Rachel Winokur of Healthagen, and Chris Foster of Booz Allen Hamilton will answer that question and discuss approaches in reaching customers.
- Innovation Town Hall – Patients Meet Innovators: After visiting the startup showcase, patients are invited to this town hall gathering to discuss gaps in innovation and what can be done to engage and empower the patients health care is working to help.
eMed will be on hand to cover the event, so check back next week for updates from the conference.
