Silicon Valley meets Seattle in an all-day conference hosted at the Foster School. Ken Denman, visiting Edward V. Fritzky Leadership Chair, has assembled a stellar line up of speakers. We’ll begin with opening remarks from Charles Songhurst, Microsoft’s Head of Corporate Strategy. Throughout the day you’ll meet and here from a series of panelists at the leading edge of venture capital and start-ups. Ben Casnocha, an award-winning entrepreneur and author, will conclude the day by talking about The Start-Up of You.

Ken Denman, President & CEO, Machine Perception Technologies
Ken Denman is currently the Edward V. Fritzky Chair in Leadership at the University of Washington's Foster School of Business. Denman's executive roles have spanned large corporations, entrepreneurial startups, emerging markets ventures, turnarounds and leading IPOs. Denman led iPass' successful Initial Public Offering, and led the strategy work for monetizing Openwave's patent portfolio and spinning off the operating units. He is an engaged angel investor and board member with both public and private board experience. At MediaOne International he drove the successful expansion of the company's mobile push by leading multinational JV's that built the market leading mobile companies in many central and eastern European countries.
Morning Keynote: Charles Songhurst, General Manager of Corporate Strategy, Microsoft
Charles Songhurst has held various positions in Strategy and M&A since joining Microsoft in 2002. That same year, he helped identify the transformational effect that Google would have in the online industry. Now, as General Manager for Corporate Strategy, Charlie is responsible for analyzing large M&A transactions and supporting the CEO and CFO in the execution of their duties. Before joining Microsoft, Songhurst was a consultant at McKinsey & Co. and an entrepreneur. He received a Bachelor’s degree in politics, philosophy and economics from the University of Oxford.

Her insightful 11 Rules for Creating Value in the #SocialEra, was published by Harvard Business Review Press, and named by Fast Company as one of the Best Business Books for 2012. It follows her previous and best-selling book, The New How (Oreilly, 2010), on collaborative work. Today she serves on boards for both public and private companies. She also lectures on innovation, board governance, and marketing at Stanford University.
The Start-Up of You: Ben Casnocha, Entrepreneur, Author & Chief of Staff for Reid Hoffman
Ben Casnocha is coauthor with Reid Hoffman of "The Start-Up of You: Adapt to the Future, Invest in Yourself, and Transform Your Career." He is also author of "My Start-Up Life: What a (Very) Young CEO Learned on His Journey Through Silicon Valley." Casnocha is also a technology entrepreneur. He founded Comcate, Inc., a leading e-government software company, at age 14. PoliticsOnline named him one of the "25 most influential people in the world of internet and politics." He also advises internet entrepreneurs at Wasabi Ventures. BusinessWeek named Casnocha "one of America's top young entrepreneurs." And dozens of outlets have covered his work including CNN, The Economist, and CNBC.
