McGill iNovia Tech Innovation Day
The McGill-iNovia Tech Innovation Day is a new initiative aimed at fostering a stronger entrepreneurial culture in Montreal and in McGill University. Conceived through a joint collaboration between McGill Students, Professors, Administrators, as well as members of the Montreal venture capital and other organizations serving the local entrepreneurial community. The McGill-Inovia Tech Innovation Day aims to set the foundation for a strong, innovative start-up community centered at McGill University. By matching motivated entrepreneurs to investors willing to supply advice, time and money to help growth great innovative business ideas. Through this initiative we hope to turn Montreal into one of the premier start-up regions in North America, with McGill as its epicenter.
In order to achieve this goal, we want to bring students, professors, administrators, entrepreneurs, and investors together on April 5th, 2013 starting at 1pm for a day dedicated to innovation. Beginning with a line up of outstanding speakers including Lorne Trottier (Matrox), Yona Stern (Beyond The Rack), Ben Yokovitz (Go Instant) and Conor Clarke (Wavo), that will give their first-hand accounts of their experiences launching their companies.
Presentations will be followed by a pitch competition to give students and professors alike the chance to win a total of 7000$ in prizes toward launching their own start-up. Finally, the event will finish off with a great networking cocktail where you will have a chance to share ideas with like-minded individuals.
