Jason Seats , Slicehost & TechStars
Jason Seats is one of the movers and shakers in San Antonio's startup community. He currently serves as managing director of the TechStars Cloud program, which takes place every January to April at Geekdom. The theme-based accelerator has helped launch 23 companies in two years. Seats is also an active angel investor. He's also a mentor to 3 Day Startup San Antonio and High School Startup. In 2006, Seats, cofounded Slicehost, an early cloud computing hosting company, with his college friend Matt Tanase and two years later sold it to Rackspace for millions. He graduated in 2001 from St. Louis University with two degrees in computer science and engineering. Seats moved to San Antonio after the acquisition of Slicehost by Rackspace. He worked at Rackspace until 2010 as vice president of software development for Rackspace Cloud, managing the cloud engineering teams. Seats and his wife have two young children. ZippyKid, a WordPress hosting site based at Geekdom, and its Founder Vid Luther, are serving as sponsors for the event. Beer and pizza will be served at 6 p.m.

Laura Lorek, Director of Startup Grind
Laura Lorek is the founder of Silicon Hills News, an online technology news site covering entrepreneurs and companies in the Austin and San Antonio region. Founded in 2011, SHN won a New Media Women Entrepreneur grant to provide seed stage funding to launch the site, which now has a staff of five reporters and is growing dramatically. She also launched Slice of Silicon Hills News, an online Web show, which spotlights a local technology startup every Friday. Previously, she worked as a senior writer covering technology and business news at the San Antonio Express-News, a senior writer for Interactive Week Magazine and a specialty writer and technology columnist at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Laura is interested in startups, entrepreneurship, technology and storytelling. She is a slow but determined runner who completed the Chicago Marathon in 2012 and has done 8 half marathons , 4 sprint triathlons and plans to run the Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon in July. She lives in Wimberley, in the Texas Hill Country, with her husband, Charlie, teenage son, Teddy, and two Labradors, Apollo and Zeus.
