Makerspace Open Lab continues at Central Library Monday nights in July. We have been drawing between 40-50 people of all ages each week, and continue to "make" it up as we go along.
This last session we saw: a family bring in their 3D printer to get help with assembly; a mother and daughter looking for help with a toy invention idea and a mechanical engineer at the same table offering advice; ham radio used for radio location; a Dos Pueblos Engineering Academy grad brought in an enhanced microphone he built for his smartphone; tutoring on Arduino electronics projects; a family looking to get their son started with programming and learning about the free MIT Scratch program; Mission Street Manufacturing, a local 3D printing startup stopping by to visit; a bio-signal monitoring device brought in by a co-founder of AchieveMint.com; tutoring in basic electronics; website development; machinists who know how to run machine shops, the conclusion of the Introduction to Python series, and we probably missed a couple of things.
Bring your ideas, your skills and desire to learn, your laptop if you have one, and perhaps a breadboard and electronic bits and pieces or materials that you want to work on or help people learn to work with. Or a sewing machine.
Please arrive before the library closes at 7pm, or you may not be able to get entry.
