The York Butter Factory

61-66 King Street, Melbourne (map)

Hey Girls!

I hope you're loving the change of season and getting to grips with having longer days!! I just love this time of year! Lots of new stuff in the works always feels great.

For November we're going to look at new stuff too... or at least extending your WordPress install, or theme development with some custom content... Basically looking at Custom Post Types and Custom Meta Data (Custom Fields). It will be a bit more technical than some of the meetups we've done in the past and I hope you'll look forward to rising to the challenge!! There's some awesome stuff available in this area.

Here's how we'll break it down...

6.00pm, Arrive, meet and greet, chat.

6.20pm, News and announcements.

6.30pm, Talk: We're going to talk this month about Custom Content... i.e. Custom Post Types, Custom Meta Data and the Custom Templates associated with them. This is going to be a fairly broad overview with a bit of technical content thrown in, but I'm interested in having a look at the following. (If you have any relevant questions/comment, have at it in the comments).

1. What constitutes Custom Content?

2. When to use Custom Content or more importantly, when NOT to.

3. How to use Custom Content. Including, but not limited to plugins to use to create Custom Post Types/Taxonomies and Custom Meta Data.

7.30pm - Head behind the factory to Hare and Grace for drinks/dinner for those interested in carrying on the discussion.

If you're interested in doing a talk on any of the above, I'd love to hear from you. Would be great to have some other contributors involved!

Dee
