Letters of Credit for International Transactions

Letters of Credit for International Transactions

Letters of credit are used primarily in international trade for transactions between a supplier in one country and a customer in another. Most letters of credit are governed by rules promulgated by the International Chamber of Commerce known as Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits.

The benefit to using a letter of credit is that it provides a conditional guarantee of payment from the importer (applicant) to the exporter (beneficiary) if the terms and conditions of the documentary credit are complied with.

The webinar, ‘Letters of Credit for International Transactions’ being conducted on 24-Oct-2013, helps to understand the process of a letter of credit and how to comply with letter of credit requirements to help reduce or prevent costly discrepancies.
